ABOUT US

Our History

Acacia Reformed Church began as a daughter church planting effort of Sterling Presbyterian Church in Sterling, VA under pastor Phil Proctor.  Sterling began praying and saving for a church plant and after 10 years the Lord answered their prayers and provided a path forward!  In January of 2021 they called John Paul Holloway as a pastor and church planter to begin this work with a seed group of 40 people who lived in the Manassas/Haymarket/Gainesville area.  In God's good providence, we grew, ordained elders and deacons, and petitioned to become a particular and self sustaining church of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and member of the Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic in May of 2025. God is good!

Why the name Acacia?
Acacia wood was used to build the tabernacle in the wilderness where God dwelled with his people. (Exodus 37) It was an ordinary wood, but it was overlaid with gold and God used it for an extraordinary purpose!  We believe that God uses ordinary people like us and ordinary means like: Reading and Preaching the Bible, Baptism, the Lord's Supper, Prayer and Fellowship to do extraordinary things and build his church (the people he calls and brings to worship him!)

Acacia Reformed Church was planted by Sterling Presbyterian Church, in Sterling, VA and was a mission work of the OPC. We are committed to preaching the whole council of God from his Word, growing in grace as redeemed sinners, and sharing the gospel with our community.

What We Believe

Acacia Reformed Church is a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic. Our denomination holds God's Word to be our highest authority for faith and life. While Christians agree on the basics of the gospel, we can sometimes differ on other teachings of scripture. We hold to our denomination’s standards of faith, which we believe to be a helpful, clear, and accurate summary of what the Bible says on the most important topics. You can read those standards of faith here:

These resources are also available with scripture proofs located here.

MISSION/VISION

"To glorify God and to enjoy him forever"

Mission: Acacia Reformed Church exists to be a haven and a beacon for the truth and beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to share it with our neighbors in Manassas and the surrounding area.

Vision: To be a faithful Reformed Christian witness serving Manassas and the surrounding area by joyfully, hospitably, and consistently reaching the unbelieving for Christ, as we all grow into full maturity in Christ through the ordinary use of the Word, sacraments, prayer and fellowship, with a further goal of planting more churches.
